Nick Lidstrom Drive... How cool would it be to have a road named after you?This afternoon the city of Novi named a street after long-time Novi resident and Detroit Red Wing Captain, Nicklas Lidstrom. Many showed up to the event to see their beloved captain receive the honor. Lidstrom is only the second Wing to have a road named after him, the first was Steve Yzerman.
"In Sweden, you have to be dead to receive such an honor, so... I guess that this is extra special." Lidstrom joked.
Lidstrom was presented with an official letter from the City of Novi signed by members of city council that declared the drive outside of the Novi Ice Arena to be named after the captain.
Lidstrom's family, the mayor of Novi, and Trevor Thompson where all there for the occasion.
On a personal note, I was SO thrilled to see this in person. Lidstrom has been such a huge influence in my time of being a Wings fan. He has accomplished so much on and off the ice, it's just... unbelievable. He truly deserves to be called "the perfect human being." The man just glows with perfection.
