The Warm-Up:
After a 4-1 victory over the Kings yesterday, the Wings will take on the (mighty) Ducks tonight in Anaheim. Pavel Datsyuk finally lit up the lamp with two goals yesterday after going through a scoring dry-spell (12 games) that was extremely uncharacteristic of him.
The Ducks have been a struggling team so far this season, so they'll be playing hard to get the W.
Injuries/Scratches:
Ian White - his face is broke.
Scratches- still unknown...
Predictions:
Final Score:
Stef- 3-2, Wings
Danielle- 4-0, Wings
Player of the Game:
Stef- Darren Helm
Danielle- Nicklas Lidstrom

Edmonton @ Detroit
Warm-Up:
It's chicken wings and Red Wings night here at the lovely Hockeytown Rundown household!
Uh-oh. The newest hockey prodigy, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, or as I like to call him, Chicken Nugget - Hopkins and the Oilers make their way into the Joe tonight. Chicken Nugget has been turning a lot of heads and impressing a lot in the hockey world. It seems like every time I turn on Hockey Night in Canada a new broadcaster is displaying his boner for this kid. It's kinda gross. And disturbing.
Anyways,
Unlike years past, the Oilers have started off pretty well and are quickly becoming a team to watch. No one saw that coming. Goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin has been playing VERY well (insert drunk joke here) and MIGHT pose a challenge for our lovely Wings.
Khabibulin blows. 10 points to those of you who get that reference...
Injuries/Scratches:
Todd Bertuzzi - ill
Henrik Zetterberg - has what some call a "middle body injury" whatever that means... he's a game time decision.
Mike Commodore is your scratch.
Other Notes-
Happy 11-11-11. Danny Cleary should score today. Just sayin...
Also, Happy Veterans Day and thank you to all of our service men and women for all that they do. I'm looking at you Jon Cugini!
Predictions-
Final Score:
Stef- Wings, 2-1
Danielle- Wings, 3-2
Player of the Game:
Stef - Tomas Holmstrom
Danielle- Danny Cleary

Warm-Up: Anaheim @ Detroit. Something's Gotta Give

Warm-Up:
Well, We're not used to this.
The Wings have lost their last 6 games. Is it time to hit the panic button? Has the panic button already been hit? Is this just some sort of terrible dream in some alternate universe? Is anyone even listening to me?
Oh the frustration!
I've thought about this way too much lately. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Maybe I need to pull out some of the playoff superstitions? Maybe I need to stop watching hockey for a week, take a step back and actually breathe. Maybe I've just lost my mind.
ANYWAYS -
The Ducks (5-5-3) are coming to the Joe tonight to try to extend the Wing's losing streak. Our boys in the red and white have a lot to prove though and should come out strong. We need a good showing from guys like Zetterberg and Datsyuk to get the rest of the team going. Or maybe we even need an unsung hero like a Helm or Abdelkader to make some good plays and get some pucks in the net. (Because, after all, according to Larry Murphy, "the net is where all the cookies are.")
Or.. maybe Datsyuk can just beat Corey Perry's ass again tonight. That should get the Wings pumped up. It gets me pumped up.
Things just need to go our way tonight. (I'm looking at you, refs)
Injuries/Scratches:
Kindl is the healthy scratch.
Eaves is out with a back injury.
Bertuzzi is out with an illness.
Other notes-
If the Wings somehow come out of this game with a loss, I'm arranging a prayer circle or something for tomorrow. Or at least I'll start going to see a shrink.
Predictions:
Final Score-
Stef 3-2, Wings
Danielle 4-1, Wings
Player of the Game-
Stef - Pavel Datsyuk
Danielle - Darren Helm

Warm-Up: Detroit @ Columbus
Time to redeem ourselves...
Warm-Up:
The Wings are playing the BJs tonight, in a game where they can redeem themselves from that horrific game against the Caps on Saturday night. Though, the Blue Jackets are still to win a game tonight so I guess it wouldn't be all to surprising if they won their first game against Detroit. (which I really hope doesn't happen.)
James Wisniewski and his fat contract are also making a return to the ice tonight after Wiz received an 8 game suspension for a hit he made in preseason. Wiz has been known for making some nasty hits and I'm not going to lie... he scares me. The Blue Jackets will be more than happy to have him back though, most of their team seems to be injured. (already)
Injuries/Scratches:
Mike Commodore- Knee
Jan Mursak- Ankle
Fabian Brunnstrom - Healthy Scratch
Cory Emmerton- Healthy Scratch ... I heard he'll be colouring in the press box. Thanks to @toddbertuzzi for that beauty.
Other Notes:
Ty Conklin will get the start in goal tonight since Jimmy Howard and his wife are spending time with the newest addition to their family. Joey MacDonald has also been called up.
Predictions:
Final Score-
Stef - 4-2, Wings
Danielle- 4-1, Wings
Player of the Game-
Stef- Johan Franzen
Danielle- Valtteri Filppula

Warm-Up: Detroit @ Washington
Wings - Caps, Wings - Caps, Wings - Caps!
Not as fun as this...
But still fun none-the-less.
The Warm - Up:
The Wings are coming off of a fresh win last night, beating that team from that town in Ohio that's home to that school that I can't name because it's football Saturday and also because I'm a Michigan grad. ANYWAYS, the Wings won 5-2 and Franzen almost gave us all free curly fries. The power play lit up for the Wings last night and Jonathan Ericsson did something useful and beat up a guy. (Derek Dorsett reportedly left the Joe with a nice shiner from Big E.)
Tonight, the Wings face Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals in a battle royale. These two teams are the only undefeated teams left in the NHL which makes tonight's game a bigger deal apparently. The Caps are 6-0-0, Wings 5-0-0. And though this game will give one of these teams with their first loss, I'm personally more excited to hear what stupid things Ovi has to say tonight. He's full of one-liners and wit. See: Exhibit A
Injuries/Scratches:
Mike Commodore -Knee
Tomas Holmstrom -Healthy Scratch
Other Notes:
The Perfect Human, Nicklas Lidstrom will be playing his 1,500th career game tonight. He's played every. single. one. of those games wearing the winged-wheel. Unbelievable. Lidstrom will be the 14th player in NHL history to reach the milestone. Congratulations, Nick! ...But let's all be honest, the dude probably has another 800 games or so left in him, right?
Fabian Brunnstrom will get his debut as a Wing tonight. Hopefully the skill we saw in preseason from this kid will come over into the regular season. He'll be playing on the fourth line with Eaves and Miller tonight.
Finally... one of the Rundown Roomies pointed out last night that questioning Mule about his "streaky-ness" is pretty dumb. I have to agree. Leave the Mule alone, let him play his game and stop asking him questions about how long his point streak or scoring streak will last. Please and thank you.
Predictions:
Final Score:
Stef- 3-1, Wings
Danielle- 2-1, Capitals
Player of the Game
Stef- Nicklas Lidstrom
Danielle - Todd Bertuzzi

Warm-Up: Columbus @ Detroit

Well first of all, I have some explaining to do... I apologize to everyone for not posting as much lately, but I promise I'll be better at it. Now that I have to be a "functioning member of society" in the "real world" there isn't much time for blogging... especially since I've been spending a lot of time with my two new best friends, Hank and Jon. >>>
(sorry, I had to... SO COOL)
Anyways... On with the good stuff...
The Warm-Up:
Tonight, our Red Wings open up the season against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Oh, wait, the season already started. I forgot... I thought it was still the off-season due to lack of Red Wings games. It's the first of 6 meetings between these two teams this season. The Wings haven't played a game since last Saturday so hopefully all time off spent shooting guns, serving coffee, making pizzas, and grocery shopping haven't worn them out too much.
The Blue Jackets are going for their first win of the season tonight (they're 0-5-1) and the Wings are looking to keep their undefeated season alive (4-0-0).
Injuries/Scratches:
Mike Commodore - Knee
Jan Mursak- Ankle
Patrick Eaves - Healthy Scratch
Other Notes:
It's Breast Cancer Awareness night at the Joe... lots of pink!
I have to say.. I've been quite impressed with Jiri Hudler so far. Yes, I know, the season is still VERY YOUNG but the little guy has been very good out on the ice. Maybe his summer spent working out with that MMA trainer will actually pay off. Also, I'm becoming a big fan of this Ian White character.
The Wings power play also needs to start showing up.
Predictions:
Final Score:
Stef - 5-2, Wings
Danielle - 3-1, Wings
Player of the Game:
Stef- Henrik Zetterberg
Danielle- Darren Hell (nope, I didn't spell it wrong, that's how he spells it. for real.)
As always, Go Wings!

Warm-up: Detroit @ Colorado
Last night, Jonathan Ericsson lead the league in +/- rating. Probably the first and last time he'll ever lead the league in anything...
The Warm-Up:
Tonight the Wings are in the mile-high city where they face-off against the Colorado Avalanche for the Av's fist game of the season. These two teams have quite the storied history full of fights, fights, and well... some more fights. Though, tonight I don't think we'll be seeing any of those.
Detroit had a good showing last night with spectacular performance by baby Wing Cory Emmerto, who had a goal and other goals by Bertuzzi, Lidstrom, Hudler, and White.
Coming off of a 5-2 win last night, the Wings have themselves positioned go ahead and keep the momentum going tonight.
Injuries/Scratches:
Mike Commodore- Knee
Brendan Smith - will serve the first game of his suspension from his hit on Ben Smith of the Blackhawks in the preseason.
Other Notes-
Conklin gets the start in net tonight! YEAH CONKS!
Predictions-
Final Score-
Stef- 4-1, Wings
Danielle- 3-0, Wings
Player of the Game-
Stef- Pavel Datsyuk
Danielle- Niklas Kronwall

Warm-Up: Ottawa @ Detroit
Well hockey fans, it has arrived!
THE 2011-2012 NHL SEASON HAS BEGUN!
I can finally get back to having a life and stop watching reruns of playoff games on the NHL network. (which, by the way, while watching those reruns, I developed a new love for another team in the league that may or may not play right across Lake Michigan.)
Anyways...
Warm-Up:
Our beloved Red Wings will start their season against the Ottawa Senators tonight at the Joe. Puck drop is at 7. I will be at the game taking away yet another hockey virginity. Jeez, it's been a long off-season.
The Wings are coming off of a so-so preseason and have a little work to do before they reach tip-top shape. Hopefully the energy and the andreniline of the regular season will give the Wings that extra push to make this one memorable season. After all, we're going for 12 in 12 and 5 for 5. (If you don't understand that... brush up on your Wings history, please.)
During the off season, the Wings made some roster changes. On the blue-line, the Wings added Ian White and Mike Commodore. White came to us from San Jose and will see a lot of time playing alongside Lidstrom. Commodore was aqquirred from Columbus and is quickly becoming popular with the fans on twitter (@commie22). Up front, Wings signed Cory Emmerton and Fabian Brunnstrom to contracts. Emmerton has been in the Wings system for some time now and Brunnstrom played his way into a contract during the preseason. Also returning for his second stint with the Wings is back-up goalie, Ty Conklin.
The Wings also got 2 new assistant coaches, Bill Peters and Jeff Blashill. (3 new coaches if you include new goalie coach, Christopher J. Osgood.)
Injuries/Scratches:
Mike Commodore - Knee Injury
Other Notes:
I'm fully expecting a heartfelt, tear-jerking tribute to our fallen Wings tonight.
RIP Ruslan Salei, Brad McCrimmon, and Stefan Liv.
Predictions:
Final Score-
Stef- 3-1, Wings
Danielle - 4-2, Wings
Player of the Game-

Warm-Up: Round 2, Game 6 San Jose @ Detroit
Warm-Up:
"We're not a team that's going to give up. We're going to keep battling until its over."
-Nick Lidstrom
Once again, ladies and gents, the season is on the line. The Wings need to win this one to force a game 7 back in San Jose. If the Wings can play a complete game (not just the third period), I believe they will come out with a win.
And that's what we all need to do... Believe.
Hometown Hero, Mike Modano will suit up tonight to after Mike Babcock announced this morning that Johan Franzen is scratched. Franzen had just over 9 minutes of ice time on Sunday night and didn't play in the third period
Also, The Sharks will be without Rayne Clowe tonight... there's been various reports on what's wrong with him. Some say he has 'flu like symptoms' others say he has an 'upper body injury' ... either way you look at it, he's just recovering from being kronwalled.
Injuries/Scratches:
Jakub Kindl and Jiri Hudler are the healthy scratches.
Johan Franzen out with an ankle injury/lower body injury.
Other Notes:
It's now or never.
Alright boys, let's do this.
Go Wings!

Warm-Up: Round 2, Game 4 San Jose @ Detroit
The Warm Up:
They say history repeats itself. Tonight- it better not.
It's do or die time.
It's now or never.
Tonight Hockeytown, we need to believe.
Believe that our boys can come flying out onto the ice tonight. Believe that even though we're down by three, we're not out. Believe that this team has what it takes to win game 4 just so that our season can see a few more days (hopefully weeks). It's not going to be easy, but if any team has enough heart to do this, it's the Red Wings.
_______
The Wings host the San Jose Sharks tonight at 7. All the pieces need to come together for the Wings tonight, otherwise they'll spend tomorrow reserving tee-times.
Injuries/Scratches:
Mike Modano, Drew Miller, Jakub Kindl are the healthy scratches tonight.
Other Notes:
There's a lot of talk around town about the end of careers for some of the guys on the team. Modano, Osgood, maybe Lidstrom, maybe Draper. We all know that these guys are towards the end of their careers but for god's sake, can we PLEASE save the retirement talks for after the playoffs? Our guys have more important things to worry about right now.
Let's do this boys.

Warm-Up: Round 2, Game 3 San Jose @ Detroit
Warm-Up:
The Wings host the Sharks tonight for game 3 of the Western Conference Semi-Final. Our boys are down by 2 in the series, making tonight a must win... otherwise I'll turn on the panic button... and that won't be pretty. Babs is switching up the line up tonight, he's sitting Drew Miller and putting in Kris Draper. Also, Babs is splitting up Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, putting them on the first and second line respectively.
On a personal note... I think that Kindl should be out on the ice instead of Ericsson or Salei... just my opinion though.
Lines for tonight should look something like this then-
Franzen, Datsyuk, Holmstrom
Bertuzzi, Zetterberg, Cleary
Abdelkader, Filppula, Hudler
Draper, Helm, Eaves
Injuries/Scratches:
Mike Modano, Drew Miller, and Jakub Kindl are the healthy scratches tonight
Other Notes:
What/Who To Look For:
Douglas Murray- This guys is definitely letting his presence be known out on the ice.
Those guys in stripes on the ice playing for San Jose. They're real good this time of year.
Also, lets hope Jimmy is wearing his mittens and scarf tonight, there's sure to be some snow showers coming his way.
Predictions:
Final Score-
Stef- 3-2, Wings

Warm-Up: Round 2, Game 2 Detroit @ San Jose
The Warm-Up:
Let's not hit the panic button yet. After a tough over-time loss on Friday night, the Wings are looking to come back to Detroit with the series tied 1-1. Though game one wasn't their best game, the Wings aren't a team to let one game get them down. I'm looking forward to seeing the Wings come out strong and willing to do whatever it takes (minus the penalties) to win this one.
We'll also be forced to listen to NBC announce the game this afternoon.
Injuries/Scratches:
Kris Draper, Mike Modano, and Jakub Kindl are the healthy scratches today.
Other Notes:
Happy Birthday to Patrick Eaves!
AND! A big congrats to Hockeytown Rundown-er, Stef for graduating today!!!
What to Look For:
The Wings need to stay out of the penalty box today. In game one, the Wings had 6 penalties called against them, while San Jose only had 2. We'll also need to see some spark coming from guys like Franzen and Helm.
Predictions:
Final Score-
Stef- 4-2, Wings

Warm-Up: Round 2, Game 1 Detroit @ San Jose
The Warm-Up:
After what seemed like months without Red Wings hockey, our boys in red and white will hit the ice and take on the San Jose Sharks tonight. As we all know, the Sharks were responsible for knocking the Wings out of the playoffs last season and the Wings will be sure to fight as hard as they can to make sure history doesn't repeat itself this time around.
The Sharks won 3 of the 4 regular season match-ups between these two teams. It will be interesting to see how they match up tonight, both teams have strong lines, lots of goal scorers. Special teams will also be important through out the series.
Injuries/Scratches:
Kris Draper, Mike Modano, and Jakub Kindl should be the healthy scratches this evening.
What To Look For:
Justin Abdelkader and Darren Helm. These two guys made themselves known in the first round, I can only see them getting better from here.

Warm-Up: Round 1, Game 4
Warm-Up:
Well, here it is. Game 4. What some call the toughest game to win. The Wings have everything lined up perfectly for them to sweep the series tonight against the Coyotes and send them back home to Winnipeg. Tonight's game is sure to be physical right from the start.
Reckless Shane Doan showed us in game 3 that he's more than willing to try and take out our Captain... The Wings better not put up with that tonight... unleash the power of the Tuzzi and Abby.
And hopefully the Wings will continue to take advantage of the poor play of Ilya Bryzgalov... Bryzgalov looked like he was on a different planet Monday night, not even moving or attempting to block shots that came his way.
Injuries/Scratches:
Henrik Zetterberg - Lower Body Injury
Chris Osgood- groin
Jakub Kindl and "32 year old" Mike Modano are the healthy scratches tonight.
Other Notes:
Hopefully our Wings learned a few lessons from the Canucks last night on what NOT to do in game 4.
Predictions:
Final Score-
Stef- 5-3, Wings
Danielle- 4-1, Wings
Player of the Game-
Stef- Danny Cleary
Danielle- Pavel Datsyuk
Here's to hoping we get to bring out the brooms tonight. Go Wings!

Warm-Up: Round 1, Game 3 Detroit @ Phoenix
Warm-Up:
Tonight (and by tonight I mean a half hour before my bed time) the Wings will be skating on the ice in Phoenix for game 3 against the Coyotes. (What? They have ice in Phoenix? Weird. They might as well be playing in Winnipeg at this point.) Not to mention, it's almost a home game for the Wings considering the amount of transplanted Wings fans out in the desert.
The Wings have won the first 2 games of the series at home and look to continue their success. And, according to Detroitredwings.com, Inthe 20 straight years the Wings have gone to the playoffs, they have a 19-4 record in series in where they have won the first two games.
Also, I managed to screw myself over today by walking into the kitchen, making cookies, and doing the dishes. If the Wings win tonight... hello new playoff superstition.
Injuries/Scratches:
Henrik Zetterberg- Lower Body Injury
Chris Osgood- Not even worth noting anymore...
Jakub Kindl and Mike Modano are the healthy scratches tonight.
Other Notes:
In case you haven't noticed by now, the Octopus count and Playoff Challenge stats are now on the side bar
What To Look For:
FRANZENSTIEN!!!!!!
Ed Jovanovski is expected to play tonight after leaving game 2 early. Jovanovski was hit hard into the board by Darren Helm and was in rough shape afterwards. It should be interesting to see if he has any retaliation planned...
Predictions:
Final Score:
Stef- 3-2, Wings
Danielle- 4-2, Wings
Player of the Game:
Stef- Tomas Holmstrom
Danielle- Darren Helm

Warm-Up: Round 1, Game 2. Phoenix @ Detroit
Warm-Up:
After going up 1-o in the series, the Wings host the Dogs from Phoenix one more time at the Joe this afternoon. After Game 1, there are a few things that we learned:
1. Special teams, special teams, special teams. Our special teams need to continue to dominate, especially in power play situations. Wings should take full advantage of Phoenix's not so great play when they're faced with a penalty.
2. Start on time. No more of this waiting til the 2nd period to start playing.
3. Keeping the penalties to a minimum. This will be tough to do considering the ref's will call just about anything and everything possible on the Wings.
Injuries/Scratches:
Henrik Zetterberg- Lower Body Injury
It would seem that Kindl is a for sure scratch... not sure if Babs plans on rotating forwards. If not, Modano will be sitting.
What To Look For:
Octopi. Boy do I hope I see lots of them.
Apparently, the NHL is doing all they can to stop the octopus throwing traditon for Red Wings fans. LAME. Completely LAME. The NHL now plans on making fans who throw "objects" on the ice pay a fine. First they take away Al's privilege of twirling the octopus on the ice and force him to twirl it in the zamboni entrance...okay,fine, we'll deal with it. But now this? If fans can't throw octopi on the ice, then they shouldn't be able to throw hats for hat tricks. Taking away our octopus tradition is completely ridiculous.
Octopus Count: 6
Predictions:
Final Score:
Stef- 5-2, Wings
Danielle- 4-2, Wings

Warm-Up: Round 1, Game 1: Phoenix @ Detroit
Warm Up:
I woke up this morning feeling like it was Christmas Day! Playoff hockey is here folks, it's a brand new season and a brand new game. As we all know by now our beloved Red Wings will be playing their first round against the Phoenix Coyotes. The Wings had the same match up last year and beat the Coyotes in 7 games.
The Wings and Coyotes met 4 times during the regular season. They split the series, each winning 2 games.
This is a pretty tight match up. The final season records for each team looked like this:
Red Wings : 47-25-10
Coyotes : 43-26-13
Injuries/Scratches:
Henrik Zetterberg out with a lower body injury. Day-to-day. (SURPRISE!!!!!)
Mike Modano and Jakub Kindl are the healthy scratches tonight... which means Kronwall is back! He will be ready to scare every Phoenix player who dares to cross his path.
Who To Look For:
Shane Doan - Doan was on top of the Coyotes stats for the season. He ended with 20 goals and 60 points. Doan has been talking some trash too. He's not going to be afraid to play a little dirty either.
Ilya Bryzgalov - One of the biggest goalies in the league. Bryzgalov is going to be tough for the Wings to get the puck past. He went 36-20-10 this season.
The Entire Detroit Red Wing Team... if they show up - If the Wings can get out of this slump that they've been lately (which I think they very well will do) They have to be the team to beat. Examples:
Franzen has always been HUGE for us in the playoffs. He's a playoff player. As long as he can forget about his second half of the season, Mule should be force to be reckoned with.
If you look at our depth, its unbelievable. Valtteri Filppula is great on the ice whether he's setting up goals or scoring them. Then we have the speed of Darren Helm. Helm can skate circles around the Coyote team, and I fully expect him to do so... hopefully he'll get that scoring touch that he's been waiting for for so long. Let's not forget Drew Miller and Patrick Eaves as well, those two have been great on the ice and can really step up when they need too.
Then there is the magic of Pavel. Dangle, Dangle, Score. Need I say more about that man?
If all the pieces of the puzzle come together, there is no doubt that the Wings will be the team to beat. The Wings need to step it up. After all, they choose their own destiny.
Octopus Count:
A new addition to THR. Look for The Octopus Count before and after every game where we will keep track of just how many Octopi we see thrown onto the ice during every playoff game...
Hockeytown Rundown Hockey Challenge:
The Challenge kicks off tonight. We'll be giving updates on standings through out the playoffs.

Warm-Up: Detroit @ Chicago
The Warm-Up:
It's here. The last game of the regular season. I can only pray that we will be able to see our boys win 16 more games after tonight. Every game and win the Wings get after tonight is a blessing. (yes, I realize I'm making hockey sound like a religion right now.) The Blackhawks need this win to keep their playoff run alive. With everything locked up in the Eastern Conference, the battle between the Hawks and the Dallas Stars is still alive in the West. Along with the battle for 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th place...
Today's match-up between the Hawks and Wings is the last of 6 meetings between these two teams. The Hawks have dominated this series winning 4 of the 5 games already played and it's no secret that they will be coming out and ready to battle for the win tonight. The Wings on the other hand haven't been playing to their potential as of late. In their last ten games, the Wings have gone 3-5-2. Not exactly a record to be proud of.
Injuries/Scratches:
Henrick Zetterberg- Lower Body Injury
Niklas Kronwall- Upper Body Injury
Drew Miller should be the healthy scratch today.
Predictions-
Final Score-
Stef- 4-3, Hawks
Danielle- 4-2, Wings
Player of the Game-
Stef- Johan Franzen
Danielle- Todd Bertuzzi

Warm-Up: Chicago @ Detroit
Warm Up:
The Wings will play their last regular season home game tonight against Chicago. It's going to be a tough game tonight for both teams as they look to secure their spots in the play-offs. The Wings, who already have a play-off spot locked, are still looking to finish in 2nd place in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, Chicago is going to do whatever it takes to keep 8th place.
Maybe we should ask Marty Turco what the outcome will be tonight... I'm sure he's taking bets.
Injuries/Scratches:
Henrik Zetterberg - Lower Body Injury. Out for the weekend, day to day once the play-offs begin.
Niklas Kronwall- Upper Body Injury. Out for the weekend, will be ready to start for the play-offs.
Chris Osgood- ...
Draper should be the healthy scratch tonight
Other Notes-
Congratulations to the Farmington Hills Firefighters for winning their division in the Metro Detroit Fire/Police Ice Hockey Championships! The team went 3-1 and brought back, my friend and Hockeytown Rundown Reader, Michael Haase out of his hockey retirement. It's Haase's 4th championship. He says he would like to thank Kevin Hodson and Dominic Hasek for the old school tutoring.
Predictions:
Final Score-
Stef- 3-2, Wings
Danielle- 3-1, Blackhawks
Player of the Game-

Warm-Up: Detroit @ Carolina
Warm Up:
Well folks, we're one week away from playoff hockey!
Tonight the Wings face off against the Carolina Hurricanes. These two teams haven't faced off against each other since January of last year where the Wings won 3-1. The Hurricanes are currently sitting in 9th place in the East and are looking for a win if they want to continue their season into the playoffs. The Wings on the other hand need the win if they want to fight for 2nd place in the West.
Injuries/Scratches:
Niklas Kronwall- not a shoulder problem...but an upper-body injury... which means he probably has a boo-boo on his knee from falling off a bike...or he has a cut on his chin from shaving... or his tummy hurts. (yes, a bit dramatic here, but what else am I supposed to think if we can't know the truth?)
Chris Osgood- ... yep... I really have nothing to say about this 'injury' of his anymore. And for someone who is and always has been a HUGE Osgood fan... I'm thinking Ozzie is at the end of the road. (I hope you all realize how much it took for me to come to terms with that.)
Drew Miller and Jiri Hudler are the scratches as of yesterday... but we all know these things can change.
Other Notes:
ESPN has a pretty cool thing for the playoffs. It's a sort of fantasy hockey where you pick a line-up for the first round of the playoffs... then each round you can change your team around. I literally spent 2 hours the other night trying to put together what I think is "the perfect team." Check it out, its under the "Fantasy" tab on the ESPN website.
Stay tuned for a post about my feelings on Osgood, the upcoming playoffs, and more...
